Eh voila! The Tamarind Institute of Lithography. I had a tour today. I think I might have drooled a little! No word of a lie. I simply can not wait for the program to get started.
My daughter and I were calculating that it must be 16 years I’ve been waiting to be right where I was today, looking through the studios with full knowledge I will be getting keys and will soon have ink under my finger nails, Tamarind style!
I haven’t taken any photos of the facilities just yet. I will of course at some point and I promise to share a few. They have a beautiful huge offset press, the first press I caught a glimpse of, and a whole separate room of Takach presses for us trainees to take over- 4 or 5? It’s a blur right now.
After a walk through the UNM campus I spent most of my day walking around town looking for an apartment to rent. I wish I had taken some more photos, the architecture is really very special. I’ll get on it. I’ve got my work cut out for me with this blog!
Saw this guy:
I love walking and exploring new places. I spent a good chunk of my time in Australia last fall doing the same, but that’s a whole other story. I think I may take one of the places I looked at today. It’s a little more then I wanted to pay but it’s just a few minutes away from Tamarind and that could prove very helpful given the hours I am told we will be putting in.
No Melrose Place type looking apartment complex for me I guess. I was hoping for a pool… would have been nice to cool off in, it’s hot here! Lots of sun. Just the way I like it.
Ooooooh it’s going to be a fabulous year!
